We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and outgoing library assistant. 
This is a 20-hr per week position at $9.00 per hour. 


The person we are looking for should:

  • have good computer skills
  • be able to plan and implement a weekly story time
  • be flexible

Responsibilities will include:

  • circulation desk duties
  • shelving items and  processing  new material
  • assisting patrons with material selections
  • assisting with special programs
  • In addition, this person must be able to attend workshops and staff development classes.

February Events


Story time

Join the fun.  Preschool story time every Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.  Stories, crafts, music, and refreshments.


Pie Making Class

Got cabin fever?  Looking for something to do?   Join us on February 10 at 1:00 p.m. for a pie making class.  Sue Grimshaw will be sharing her tips for making the best pie crust.  The library will furnish all the ingredients for the pie crust, and Sue will furnish apple pie filling.    Participants are asked to bring a pie plate and a rolling pin.  If you wish to make a pie other than apple, please bring two cans of filling.  Aprons are opitional..and in my case, necessary!!   Snow date is Feb 17.   Call the library at 938-7169 to register or email


Valentine's Story time

We will be hosting a special Valentine's story time on Saturday, February 14 at 10:00 a.m.  Stop in and decorate a heart-shaped cookie, make a craft, listen to special stories and  enjoy yummy refreshments. 

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Party



On Friday, May 15 at 6 p.m, kids ages 2 and up can bring a stuffed animal to the library for a special evening of fun.  We will read bedtime stories, do a craft,  have refreshments and tuck our special stuffed animal friends into 'bed.'

Saturday morning at 10 a.m., children can pick up their stuffed animal friends, enjoy a light breakfast, and watch a slide show of all the mischief their stuffed animal got into overnight. 

Remember, only bring a stuffed animal that your child can part with overnight.  Pajamas are welcome.   To register your child, please call the library at 938-7169 OR email

The Henderson Free Library in conjunction with the Henderson Historical Society cordially invite you to a special evening program.  Learn more about the historical limestone buildings in Jefferson County, featuring five local homes.

This program is free and open to everyone.

Refreshments will be served and books will be available for signing.

Henderson Community Building


  • $35 Class fee includes all supplies  for the class.
  • Seating is limited; sign up by June 5.
  • Learn many of the basics of watercolor painting including mixing colors, quality of materials, how to paint loose and tight.
  • Each student will complete their own watercolor to take home.
